What is Rokuyou?
You can find Rokuyou（六曜）in most of the Japanese calendars when you look closely.
Its origin is China.
Rokuyou was introduced to Japan in the 14th century, and finally came to the present style in the 19th century.
It has nothing to do with Buddhism but is simply from the folk belief.
Some people say that Rokuyou was made for stratagems, but there is no proof about that.
Nowadays, Japanese people use Rokuyou to set a date for ceremonial occasions.As Roku means six in Japanese, it is divided into six ways of foreseeing the day.
I try to explain them below:1, Senshou先勝 Make a quick decision and act for everything brings a fortune.
All the luck will be with you in the morning.
Bad luck in the afternoon.2 ,Tomobiki友引 The outcome of the game will be a tie.
Good for festivities.
Good luck in the morning and evening, bad luck around noon.3 ,Senpu先負 Wait and take your time until your decision will be concrete.
Bad luck in the morning.
All the luck will be with you in the afternoon.4 ,Bustumestu仏滅 Nothing can be achieved successfully.
Don't start a new project.5 ,Taian大安 Good day for everything, including travel, move, marriage, new business.6 ,Shakkou赤口 Bad luck for celebration.
Be careful with fire.
